Worsted

This colour brings to mind city suits made from the flat woven fabric Worsted, so named after the Norfolk village where the yarn was originally woven. It sits happily between the amazingly popular but lighter Purbeck stone, and the stronger Mole's Breath.

Joa:

Worsted will look greyer in northern light or in candlelit dining rooms, for which it is perfectly suited. Whatever the room, it always feels extremely chic, particularly when used in rooms starved of light like internal cloakrooms or bathrooms.

Charlotte:

Worsted is a particularly stylish colour, one that can be dressed up or down depending on the desired look. Due to its strength it can hold its own against bolder tones, so I would use it in a lobby with vibrant shades such as Charlotte's Locks or Cook's Blue.

How to use it...

1.

Joa:

Worsted started life as an accent for the easy grey family of Ammonite, Cornforth White and Purbeck Stone, and also sits perfectly with Mole's Breath. However when used on the walls, it is the perfect background for some really strong colours like the uplifting Yellowcake, or the slightly more chic Stiffkey Blue, both which could be used to accent pieces of furniture.

2.

Charlotte:

I particularly love Worsted against bold colours such as Cook's Blue and Charlotte's Locks - it would make a memorable combination in a lobby or hallway.
